WHAT IS IT -- This odd type flower is growing at the
Marvin Tracy home at 1528 10th, and they'd like to
know what kind of plant it is. The plant is blooming
now, with a dark purplish bud protruding from the
stem. This is the second time in 13 years it has
bloomed.
Weyerhaeuser tours to start
Summer tour schedules
went into effect Monday,
June 18, at Weyerhaeuser's
Everett Lumber Mill - Mill
B, and at the Kraft Pulp Mill,
also located in Everett.
Lumber mill tours will he
offered at 10:30 a.m., I p.m.,
and 2:30 p.m., Monday

House adjacent to the main
office building and take
about an hour and a quarter.
Special tours for groups
numbering more than 15 can
be arranged by calling the
Weyerhaeuser public
relations office.
Kraft Pulp Mill tours are
offered 1 p.m. only, Monday
through Friday. Both mills
are located in North Everett,
adjacent to the Snohomish
River. Access to the lumber
mill is on the east side of
Broadway, and access to the
kraft mill is on the west side
of Broadway. Summer tour
schedules will continue

Senior citizen
exemptions
deadline June 30
Senior citizen homeowners
who are eliRible for the
partial exemption from
property taxes are reminded
that exemption claims must
be filed by June 30 in order to
receive property tax relief
on their 1974 taxes.
Forms for filing exemption
claims are available in the,
office of Snohomish County
Assessor J.B. Haines, and
the office can also provide
additional information
relative to the exemption
statutes.
To be eligible a claimant
must meet the following
requirements: 1. Age 62 or
older as of Jan. 1, 1973; 2.
Family income under $6,000
during calendar year 1972; 3.
Owner and occupant of the
home on Jan. 1, 1973.
Physically disabled persons
wh6 are retired from gainful
employment are also en-
titled to the partial exemp-
tion. Single persons or
couples with incomes less
than $4,000 are eligible for an
exemption of all excess
levies with a minimum
reduction of $50, provided
they meet the age or
disability requirement.
Those with incomes between
$4,000 and $6,000 qualify for
an exemption of one-half the
excess levies. In computing
income persons receiving
social security payments
may deduct one-third of
these benefits when com-
puting their total family
income.
Persons claiming the
exemption can speed up the
preparation of the ap-
plication by bringing their
current property tax
statement in order that the
proper description of the
property is entered on the
form. If further information
is required, please pohone
259-9433 or call at the county
assessor's office in the new
County Administration
Building.

Garden Club wins award
Marysville Garden Club
yearbook won first place in
its size class at the recent
convention of Washington
,State Federation of Garden
Clubs in Spokane. Mrs. Tom
Rowe was president and
Mrs. Ray Kelley secretary
during the year of com-
petition.
Other winners were Everett
Garden Club with a first
place in the section for clubs
of 100 members and more,
Alderwood, and South
Whidbey. Lake Stickney,
Lynndale and Mukilteo Way
Garden Clubs received
honorable mention in the
same contest.
South Whidbey club won
both the Atlantic-Richfield
and Sears Roebuck
beautification contests.
Evergreen District garden
clubs that received other
honors were: Arlington,

POORLY nourished
mothers have a greater risk
of bearing premature and
low birth weight babies,
reports the March of Dimes.
Either condition jeopardizes
an infant's chances of
healthy development.
ERNEST (GUS) GUETLIN
Ernest (Gus) Guetlin, 74,
of 1626 3rd St., Marysville
died June 25, 1973.
Mr. Guetlin was born April
12, 1899 in Osgood, Ind. He
had lived in the Marysville-
Everett area since 1907 and
as a pioneer resident of
Marysville he was a past
president of the Marysville
Pioneers.
He was a member of the
Everett Eagles Aerie No. 13,
Electrical Workers Union
Local No. 191of Everett,
Pioneers Club of Marysville,
St. Mary's Catholic Church,
and was interested in the
Marysville baseball
program: For many years
Mr. Guetlin drove for the bus
line between Everett and
Marysville.
Mr. and Mrs Guetlin
celebrated their 50th wed-
ding anniversary on May 19,
1973.
He leaves his wife,Mary at
home; two sons, Ernie
Guetlin, N.C., and Axthur
Bud) Guetlin of Marysville;
a daughter, Mrs. Jerald
tMargaret) Overturf of
Everett; two: brothers,
Harry and Arid Guetlin, both
of Marysville; two sisters,
Mrs. Ben Miller of
Marysville and Mrs. Frank
Esbenshade of Seattle;
seven grandchildren and one
great-grandson.
Rosary will be 7:30 p.m.
Thursday at St. Mary's
Catholic Church, Marysville.
Requiem Mass will be at t0
alm. Friday in St, Mary's
Catholic Church, Marysville.
Burial will he in Marysville
Catholic Cemetery.
Friends wishing may
make memorials to the
Marysvilie Public Library,
St. Mary's Catholic Church
Building Fund, or a favorite
charity.
LUCILLE WIRTH
Word has been received
from Maxbass, Kansas of the
death of Lucille M. Wirth,
formerly of Marysville.
Miss Wirth had taught in
Kansas schools and then
served in the armed forces
for seven years. She served
in the Korean War.
Miss Wirth taught in the
Marysville schools for 14
years and returned to
Kansas in 1969.

FRYBERG
Josephine Victoria
Fryberg, 59, of Star Route
Box1083-H, Marysville, died
June 26, 1973.
She was bern Dec. 7, 1914,
at Tulalip, and has lived in
this area all her life. She was
a member of St. Anne's
Catholic Church, and Tulalip
Tribes, Inc.
Mrs. Fryberg leaves eight
sons, Clarence Hatch and
Myron, LeRoy, William,
Geroid, Dean, Marlin and
Cyrus Fryberg, all of Star
Route Marysville; a
daughter, Mrs. Jeanette A.
Reeves of Star Route,
Marysville; her mother,
Mrs: Minerva Dunbar
Taylor of Star Route
Marysville; a brother, Cyrus
Hatch, Sr.; two sisters, Mrs.
Priscilla Pumphrey and
Mrs. Helen Davis, both of
Marysville; two half-
brothers, Verle Hatch of Star
Route Marysville and Wayne
Hatch of Seattle; a half-
sister, Mrs. Betty Smith of
Tacoma; 15 granddaughters
and 14 grandsons.
